Flathead River News: Celebrations, Job and Volunteer Opportunities, & Event

Flathead Rivers Alliance is lucky to have the support of you and extended river community! We’ll keep it short here, so we can take the opportunity to share celebrations, upcoming events, employment and volunteer opportunities, and give a shout out to everyone that supported us in 2021 during our inaugural year of programming.

Staff Update
Our Watershed Coordinator participated in the Wild and Scenic Rivers Coalition Hill Week and Crown Managers Partnership Forum, while our Big Sky Watershed Coordinator was in Helena for AIS Training and Service Symposium. Between conferences and trainings they’ve been prepping for the second live webinar in the 2022 Flathead Wild & Scenic River Webinar series, recruiting volunteers, exploring funding opportunities for special projects, and so much more.

Roundup for Safety Board of Directors has committed $5,000 toward the purchase of Loaner Life Jacket Station structure materials, River Ambassador First Aid Kits, and development of river safety messaging animations. We will share project updates as they progress.

Hailey from Center for Native Plants is the winner of a Three Forks of the Flathead River Float Guide and sticker as a little thank you from us! We hope to surprise more lucky subscribers throughout the year. In the meantime, Float Guides can be purchased at Flathead National Forest offices.

Learn the ins and outs of Wild and Scenic River management plans from regional and local experts. Don't miss your opportunity to ask questions about river management plan mechanisms and process ahead of the Three Forks of the Flathead CRMP draft release. River Ambassador Program Training

River Monitoring Survey 123 Program Training
April 14th, 2022
6:00-8:00 pm
Glacier Outdoor Center, West Glacier, MT

If you enjoy floating the river and have a desire to be an active stakeholder while doing so, this volunteer opportunity is for you. Stakeholders are trained to conduct river recreation use monitoring using a Survey 123 mobile data collection app. This tool allows trained volunteers to collect river user, wildlife, and invasive species data as they float the river. Data collected will enhance data sets that are collected by agency partner river patrols. Learn more HERE or RSVP HERE.
