Flathead Wild & Scenic River is a 219 mile free-flowing river system that includes the North, South, and Middle Forks of the Flathead River. Each Fork has a unique personality. Ranging from scenic floats to whitewater to technical remote wilderness waters, a range of skill levels are needed to navigate. Joining an outfitted guided float is a great option if you are not familiar with a float segment and/or your group doesn’t have skills to navigate it. Tip: Depending water year, booking a trip on the upper Middle Fork or South Fork in June or early July tends be ideal for water flows.

EMERGENCY CLOSURE - Blankenship Southwest (Blankenship Bridge Area)

Due to high water, the Flathead National Forest has closed Blankenship Southwest (also known as Blankenship Bridge area). Seasonal runoff and recent rain is increasing water levels on the Flathead River which has submerged the access road to the Blankenship Southwest gravel bar.

This short-term closure order has been put in place for public safety and will be lifted when water levels recede. The area is closed to all camping and motorized vehicle use while the emergency closure is in place.
