Greetings from Flathead Rivers Alliance

Hello Friends of the Flathead River!

It’s start of a new year and 2022 looks to be Flathead Rivers Alliance’s biggest year yet! In addition to launching several projects and programs, we are excited to welcome a new staff member and Board of Director member. Together you and our team can safeguard the future of the Flathead River system.

We are busy setting spring training dates for our River Ambassador and River Recreation Monitoring volunteer programs and will reach out to those who have expressed interest January 31st. If you would like to learn more about these volunteer opportunities send request HERE.

The Three Forks of the Flathead Comprehensive River Management Plan (CRMP) draft is expected to be released this spring for public comment. In anticipation of this public participation opportunity we will post a CRMP FAQ on website (look for it next week) and roll out a virtual speaker series to start in February. Stay tuned for our special guest lineup who will share the ins and outs of Wild and Scenic Rivers, CRMPs and so much more.

MEET OUR NEW TEAM MEMBERS

Sunshine Flamer is a 2022 Big Sky Watershed Corps member and will be shared with Flathead Rivers Alliance, Flathead National Forest, and Glacier National Park during her service term, focusing work on Three Forks of the Flathead. She comes to us by way of Georgia’s Chattahoochee River and Bozeman, MT. Her dynamic background in aquatic ecosystems and enthusiasm for river conservation is a welcome addition to our 2022 team. Sam Roloff joins Flathead Rivers Alliance’s Board of Directors. His love for water started with a paddle in his hand at an early age in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. His passion for this river system now focuses on keeping it clean and wild for his son and future generations. Sam hopes to use his expertise in finance to help propel the Flathead Rivers Alliance downstream and ensure cold clean water for us all. Learn more HERE.

FRIEND OF THE FLATHEAD SPOTLIGHT

We're honored to be in the company of FAST Blackfeet as recipients of Annie Robertson's donation! Annie produced a series of stickers capturing the beauty of the region and sold them at Glacier Guides and Montana Raft Co. and other retailers around the Flathead Valley this summer. Her project was to encourage intention in spending. She hopes to transition to a more sustainable and considerate consumerism of which gives back to the people and places which inspire us all.
