Education & Outreach

Connecting People to the River. Inspiring a Culture of Stewardship.

From classrooms and community gathering spaces to riverbanks and backcountry waterways, we help people understand, appreciate, and protect the Three Forks of the Flathead River.

Building a Community of River Stewards

Healthy rivers depend on informed, engaged communities. Flathead Rivers Alliance connects residents, visitors, and students with the Three Forks through hands-on learning, public presentations, river safety education, and community science.

By bringing education both onto the water and into our communities, we foster a deeper understanding of river ecology, watershed health, and the shared responsibility of protecting these extraordinary waterways for future generations.

Youth Education
Connect K-12th grade and college students with stream ecology, watershed health, river safety, and hands-on learning experiences.

Science & Stewardship

Participate in water quality monitoring, floating citizen science, and volunteer conservation events and projects.

River Safety & Visitor Information

Help river users prepare for their trips, understand river hazards, river-specific rules and regulations, and how to recreate responsibly.

Community Presentations & Outreach

Bring river education into classrooms, community meetings, workshops, and local events throughout the Flathead Valley.

The River Has a Story to Tell

You don't have to be on the water to connect with the river.

Flathead Rivers Alliance shares the story of the Three Forks (North, South, & Middle Forks of the Flathead River) through community presentations, educational workshops, and partnerships. We help audiences explore river ecology, conservation, recreation, and the importance of the Flathead Wild & Scenic River, in the Flathead Basin and Greater Crown of the Continent ecosystem.
