River Safety Trainings Open to the Public in 2026
Build Skills. Stay Safe. Protect Our River Community.
Thanks to support from the Flathead Electric Cooperative Roundup for Safety Grant Program, Flathead Rivers Alliance is excited to offer community-accessible river safety trainings in 2026, including free First Aid/CPR certification opportunities and scholarship support for swiftwater river rescue trainings.
Whether you are a recreational river user, fishing guide, rafting enthusiast, outdoor educator, volunteer, or simply someone who spends time around water, these trainings are designed to strengthen safety skills, emergency preparedness, and confidence on and around the river.
Free First Aid/CPR Certification Trainings
Flathead Rivers Alliance is partnering with Anytime/Anywhere CPR to offer First Aid/CPR Certification trainings for up to 20 participants. Thanks to grant from Flathead Electric Cooperative Roundup for Safety we’re able to cover certification tuition for two classes of (10).

Participants will receive certification training focused on real-world emergency response skills that are valuable both on the river and in everyday life.
Swiftwater River Rescue Scholarship Opportunities
Thanks to grant from Flathead Electric Roundup for Safety Flathead Rivers Alliance is able to offer scholarships to help reduce financial barriers for community members interested in river rescue training. These trainings will be led by our partners at Great Northern Resort & Whitewater.
Scholarship opportunities are available for both a women’s-specific course and a co-ed swiftwater rescue course.
These trainings are ideal for boaters, guides, anglers, outdoor professionals, search and rescue volunteers, and anyone seeking to build river safety and rescue skills.
Women’s Specific Swiftwater & Technical River Rescue

This Women’s Specific River Rescue is a course covers the essentials of swiftwater safety and rescue in a super supportive all lady environment. Develop your rescue skills for river running!

Co-ed Swiftwater & Technical River Rescue

This Co-ed River Rescue is designed for private boaters. This is an excellent course if you want an introduction to river rescue. We work on developing the skills needed for river runners!
